Meet the Founder

As a scientist and researcher of Ayurveda, Sudhir was inspired to create OM Botanical in 2011 after a fruitless search for non-toxic products to treat his son’s eczema. Drawing upon his MS in molecular biology and MBA from Yale, he set out to craft the safest and most effective plant-based skin care line, combining the wisdom of Eastern traditions and the rigor of Western science.

A vegan who loves cooking for others, Sudhir spends his free time gardening, hiking, and rock climbing.

Safe and effective

Plants, over millions of years of evolution, have developed a natural balance within. At OM Botanical, we harness this synergy by using full-spectrum extracts rather than isolated active ingredients, maximizing their bioactivity to create safe and effective products. Our approach prioritizes safety while preserving the full bioavailability of the therapeutic properties of our plant-based ingredients.

  • 100% natural

    This probably goes without saying, but our products are 100% natural. No parabens, sulfates, phthalates, or other harsh alcohols that strip your skin’s natural oils.

  • Full-spectrum

    We use full-spectrum botanical extracts instead of isolated actives. This approach prioritizes product safety while preserving the full bioavailability of the therapeutic properties of our plant-based ingredients.

  • Based in aloe

    Aloe vera is renowned for its soothing properties and its ability to deeply penetrate the skin. It contains lignin, which enhances the absorption of other active botanical ingredients. That’s why we use aloe as a base, instead of water.

  • Safe enough to eat

    Skin is our largest organ and a lot of what we put on it gets absorbed into our bodies. So we’ve designed our products to be safe enough to eat. (Though we don’t recommend actually eating them…they are not tasty).

Like our vegan founder, we believe that using animals as property is fundamentally wrong, regardless of how they are treated. None of our products contain animal-derived ingredients and we do not test on animals (unless you count our friends and family).

For a better planet

A focus on sustainability

Using plant-based ingredients, instead of ones derived from petrochemicals, is a good start. Manufacturing in the US ensures a lower shipping footprint than products made overseas. We also package most of our products in carbon neutral sugarcane tubes or glass and all of our packaging is recyclable. We’re always looking for ways to lower our environmental impact.
